Standing Firm: The Story
"My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life."
(Psalm 119:50)
Dave, a widower, is working himself to death. Late nights doing paperwork and running on fumes is the norm. Bills are piling by the week, and foreclosure looms on the horizon. Blaming God for his wife's death, he ends his relationship with the church.
His son, Steven, the only remaining Christian of the family, has been watching his fathers unhealthy lifestyle with great concern. Along with his best friend Maggie, Steven works to reach his father in anyway he can.
Despite his grieving, Dave begins to move in the right direction seeking an answer to the question that has been haunting him since his wife's death..…WHY?
Standing Firm is a story of suffering, God's purpose in it, and being joyful despite of it. |

Standing Firm: The Message
The worse this planet becomes, the more people ask that same old question... "If God Really Loves Me...Then Why Do I Suffer?"
It's the basis for all kinds of attacks against the God of the Bible and His teachings. It's even used to attack the evidence of His existance and the legitimacy of the Christian faith.
The response typically given to "Do You Believe in God?," is almost always the same. If there is a God and he loves me then he wouldn't do that, he wouldn't cause this, he wouldn't allow this to happen, and on it goes. This film aims to answer those questions and counteract that kind of thinking.
- Is there a purpose in my suffering?
- Is God truly Sovereign?
- Is there a purpose in all things, even my death or someone elses?
- Why do these things happen to me!?
